Girls day together
Daddy had something to do for most of today, so we girls made the most of things - after hockey this morning (and yes!, it was cold out there!!!!), we baked, decorated biscuits, played, played in a 'band', read stories and painted - whatever we could find. While my back and bottom were rather sore after sitting on the tiles creating with them, it was so worth the special time together talking about whatever came up and laughing with each other - times like these need bottling!
Afternoon tea
Another trip out to check on progress this afternoon. The bracing ply is up in places (for those who know what that means), and the big posts for the cathedral ceilings are in place ready for next week. The girls love being out there, running up and down the 'mountains' of dirt that the excavator has kindly left, and hunting for nails on the ground...our very own clean up crew. Our builder and his family were out for a drive and stopped by to have afternoon tea and a play with us, so that made for a fun afternoon.
Lots of decisions to be made now though - roof colour, gutters, fascia, garage door etc. etc. Who would have thought it would be so difficult to pick a colour for a roof?!?!?

Little by little...
the frame is going up. I have no concept of how long such things take, but it's still exciting whenever I go and can actually see some progress. The big posts etc. for the cathedral ceiling will apparently go in early next week, and then the roof-line will be fully framed. It's rather nice to be able to walk through the rooms and get a 'real' feel for the size and layout of them etc.
Oh - and the two scruffy kids at the front are with me...
Daddy's girls
Greg is a great dad, and loves his girls to bits. They love to have cuddles with Daddy and to listen to his 'Silly Songs with Daddy' which can be brought on by just about any occasion/thing that he may happen to think of at the time. We often forget to take photos of the adults in our family (or just forget to take photos at all) because we're so busy enjoying the moment that the camera is usually an afterthought, but here's one of the girls and Daddy having some crazy time after dinner one night recently - just before heading off to bed.

School photo
Seems like ages since the school photos were actually taken, and we finally received them during the first week back this term. I was laughing at the various expressions that the kids were using as smiles in the photos - everything from a forced grimace, to complete disinterest (perfect passport photo material) and finally some beaming grins. Ellen went for somewhere in between a few different categories...
So grown up in her uniform and loving school - we're so proud of her approach and attitude to it all. Recently her teacher and I were discussing how competitive she is (about everything!!) - now wonder where she gets that from? Mum - stop laughing!!

Day with Grandma
The girls and I spent the second week of the school holidays down in Brisbane, and on one of the days that I went to work the girls spent the day with Grandma. From all reports they had a great time - visited the park, played with their cousin and aunt and did some baking in the afternoon. Thanks for having them Verna!

Framed
Well not fully yet, but the framing for the walls in the house started this week, although some rather inclement weather has slowed things down a little unfortunately. Still it's exciting to be able to walk through a few rooms and to get a feel for how big rooms are etc. The girls were ecstatic to be able to walk through, although it was near freezing(literally!), so our visit was cut a little short. Brrrrr!
