Catch up

A few random shots from the past few weeks:
- a fire on Tabletop a few nights ago. Not sure whether they were
burning off or not, but it did make an interesting light show for us
right on dusk, we were able to watch it while we were eating dinner at
the dining table.
- the new letterbox that Greg built for us
- and finally, some photos of the girls after school the other day.
Don't be thinking that it was warm though - why they don't wear jumpers
I don't think I'll ever really understand?!?! Although compared to the
past few weeks up here, I guess it was comparatively balmy outside...

Miss Lauren

She's a delight, that's for sure. Some more recent photos of our
'littlest one'. There's always a cheeky grin and a happy nature with
this little lass around, even with her being off colour for a couple of
weeks. Hopefully that is behind us now...
As you can see, she likes her veggies - corn in particular, and has
discovered the delights of the sandpit as well - not quite the beach,
but the best we can do up here. At least it's finally warming up a
little so going outside is somewhat bearable again...

Just one more...

that's Ellen's mantra at the moment.
She's always enjoyed reading, and has gone ahead in leaps and bounds
over the past few months in particular - so any person willing to be an
audience will do as she works her way through our extensive library of
books, as well as those from our public library. Sometimes Mummy and
Daddy just don't have the time to sit and listen, so on Papa's birthday
with a number of Great Aunts and cousins available, she was in her
element! Papa's cousin's wife was one of the willing
participants...thanks Leonie!
I've always loved reading (rather the opposite of Greg), and am so glad
that our older girls are both very keen to read as well. When they're
not reading their own books, we're working our way through numerous
volumes from Enid Blyton - one of my favourite childhood authors (and
interestingly, Greg is as keen to hear the stories read as the girls are).
There's something special about sharing a good book isn't there?

Still going strong...

Papa celebrated his 70th birthday at our place last weekend over a BBQ
lunch. It was a beautiful (although freezing!) day.
Happy Birthday Papa!

Slip sliding away

We've been to plenty of parks recently, but this was the first time that
Lauren had a turn on the slide under Daddy's watchful eye. We think she
enjoyed it, although sometimes it's hard to tell when she's wearing her
poker face...

3D sculptures

I mentioned in the last post the Surrealist exhibition at GoMA - here
are our 3D sculptures, Olivia's, then Ellen's and Mummy's on the right.
The girls could have spent hours building and photographing various
models - something so simple, and yet so much fun. I'm not arty or
crafty at all, but I did enjoy watching others far more skilled than I...

Week in Bris-Vegas

For the first week of the school holidays the girls and I spent the week
at Aunty Tricia's house. We had lots of catchups throughout the week,
although I was rather remiss and didn't actually get all that many
photos...maybe next time.

Some of the highlights for the girls were:
- visiting the Museum where they sang and did a seated Torres Strait
Islander dance, as well as lots of craft
- visiting GoMA and again doing lots of artwork (thankfully I had the
pram to carry it all), as well as creating some construction of
interesting models as part of the Surrealist exhibition
- attending the kids program at Nanna's church, which was fantastic and
culminated with a dinner together and various other things. Ellen's
elective for the 3 days was dancing (no surprises there) and they
performed - much to her delight! Thankfully the girls did not get my
complete lack of rhythm!! The Preppies weren't given the option of
dancing, so Olivia is already planning for next year...

Lauren enjoyed just about everything, as long as she was fed and rested
regularly - its the little things... and for me, the highlight was the
opportunity to thaw out at bit - wearing only one layer of clothing
without shivering is such a treat!!
