Mackay Pt 4
Some of the nature shots - we didn't ever find the elusive platypus, but we did see lots of other great creatures - many of which we didn't capture, but here's a few that we had the camera ready for...
Mackay Pt 3
Olivia the thinker
A gorgeous 5 year old...
Some of the best times were when we were together talking or sharing in our hire car, making up songs together and playing all the car games that Greg and I could recall from our own 'roadtrips' as kids.
We did find the most beautiful waterhole complete with waterfall and very verrrry cold water to swim in. Mummy and the girls only braved this beautiful pool for a short time, but Daddy managed to swim across and put his head under the waterfall for a bit. It was a long walk, but so worth it for the result!

Mackay Pt 2
Some more photos of our adventures - the sand banks for running on and writing our names in were fun, as were the many bushwalks and giant boulders that we came across.
And just having Uncle David around to wrestle with was fun as well....
Mackay Pt 1
Two very excited girls on the plane
A series of three pics of Olivia at one of the great parks we found...
Seems like forever since we had our holiday in Mackay in January - so much has happened since, but I realised that I haven't captured the moment so here goes...
A series of posts will be required I think. But mostly our days were filled with either exploring national parks, hunting for the elusive platypus or locating great beaches and parks to play in...all fun and for the most part rather relaxing. I'm not sure that our hosts thought so though - thanks Uncle David and Aunty Tess for having us invade your home for a few days - it was great to spend some time with you too!

A real smoothie
Olivia and I often make banana smoothies together - something that only she and I are partial to in our family. The other day we had planned to make one, and when I came back in from hanging out washing I found that she'd decided to get started without me...
Three bananas and about six kids yoghurts went into this creation, and she was pretty happy with herself for doing it all solo!
(I was just glad that the mess wasn't any bigger, and rueing the fact that I still had one overripe banana left on the bench, while the three beautiful fresh ones were now in the blender...ah well, it tasted great anyway - even better because of the love and thought poured into it!).
