Out the window

We do get some amazing views from our new home, and particularly with
all the electrical storms around at present, it's rather mesmerising
watching as the view constantly changes. This evening though we were
treated with something a little different - the clouds had rolled across
our block (a frequent occurrence due to living on the edge of a range),
and the colour of the 'fog' changed from grey through various shades of
yellows and oranges before ending up this amazing dusty pink colour
outside - a hit with the girls of course!

Weekender

When we built our new home we specifically wanted it to be appropriate
for people to be able to come and stay for a night (or 2 or 3), given we
are that bit further away from many of our family and friends. Last
weekend we finally had someone come and stay - my parents and sister and
her family. We managed to cram in very little in our weekend together,
and yet still came away happy and exhausted....sign of a good weekend I
think! The kids all loved spending time playing in the new sandpit below
the new fort (yet to be fully completed - photos to come), on the
trampoline, riding scooters in the park over the road and soccer in the
backyard - and that's before they transformed the playroom into another
imaginative world. We adults enjoyed many teas, coffees, cakes and
chats, and an early birthday dinner for Greg complete with trifle for
dessert - he was a happy camper!

Sleepover

We headed up to spend the weekend with Grandma and Papa in their caravan
at the beach. It was lovely, and despite some moments of rather
inclement weather, we had a great time and it was rather fun all
squeezing in for a sleepover in the annexe of the van. The girls (and
Greg and I) rather miss having regular access to a beach, so relished
the time there - we had to drag them away late on Sunday with promises
of a week long family holiday at the beach in the next month or so. Now
we just have to plan and execute that - I can't wait!!

Australia Day

While Daddy stayed home to work on our new fort, the girls and I headed
down to our local sports fields where they were having a community
celebration for Australia Day. The girls loved all the activities - egg
and spoon, sack and hobby horse races, tug-of-war and other games too as
well as free jumping castles and face painting. We had a great time and
met some others within our new community, so well worth attending. We
did miss the ride-on mower races later in the day and a number of other
things too - perhaps we'll enter ours next year...
