While we were down on the weekend we had Uncle Steve's birthday party. The girls were a little disappointed that we didn't quite manage to make him a motorcycle birthday cake, but the addition of sprinkles to the icing seemed to help. He had trouble blowing out his own candles though - there were so many helpers - the common theory is that Aunty Tricia actually managed to blow them out while everyone else had the giggles. Of course looking at her above - you can see why we were laughing at her!!

The weekend
Plum tuckered out Tinkerbell
Nanna armed and dangerous
Wii were doing yoga together
Riding the rails with Uncle Jason
Another trip down the hill last weekend, this time for Greg to go camping with the lads and the girls and I spent the weekend at Nanna and Grandad's. We had a ball - we went to see the movie 'Tinkerbell' with the girls appropriately dressed for the occasion (and for the next couple of hours of walking around the shops!). Earnt us a few "aren't they cute" comments and smiles anyway. Tried to go swimming in Nanna and Grandad's pool, but it has a leak in it apparently, so we couldn't use it as the water levels were too low - fortunately it was at the same time as the half hour window when they allow the people in the village to water their gardens, so a few errant sprays of the hose had to suffice instead.
Ellen decided that 'we' should do ballet together on Nanna's Wii Fit - which I soon discovered was actually the yoga section - Grandad thought we were hilarious! Sunday after Church we walked down to have a ride on the miniature steam trains and a play at the park - a lazy way to spend a Sunday morning...

Easy
Painting, an easy way to fill a lot of time.
It doesn't seem to matter what type, medium, method, whether it's a free design or painting over an outline - it's all very popular in our house. I leave Kindy each time with arms full of 'art' created that day, while other parents seem to get off very lightly indeed!!
The girls were enjoying a spot of water painting with Winnie the Pooh the other day on our outdoor table - the fridge can't take anymore... we've had to set a timeline for items to be displayed, dictated primarily by how much more is in the holding pattern behind it!
Cooking with....Dad
Like all kids, our two love being in the kitchen. We haven't been able to bake at all recently though, with the oven in the house that we're in needing replacing, and the hands of time moving very slowly in terms of getting it first checked and then replaced through the rental agency.
My birthday cake had been deferred until they could bake it themselves, so finally last weekend they pinned Daddy down and had a fun couple of hours in the kitchen. I came around the corner and the sight of them all in a row was rather amusing, and the cake tasted fantastic!
The girls are fantastic in the kitchen now - they peel, grate and chop the vegetables (with supervision of course), shred things, prepare the corn cobs, break the eggs (not just drop them!), do any hand washing for the dishes and so much more - I'm looking forward to a couple of years time when they can handle a simple meal on their own...it won't be far off based on progress to date.
