Like all kids, our two love being in the kitchen. We haven't been able to bake at all recently though, with the oven in the house that we're in needing replacing, and the hands of time moving very slowly in terms of getting it first checked and then replaced through the rental agency.
My birthday cake had been deferred until they could bake it themselves, so finally last weekend they pinned Daddy down and had a fun couple of hours in the kitchen. I came around the corner and the sight of them all in a row was rather amusing, and the cake tasted fantastic!
The girls are fantastic in the kitchen now - they peel, grate and chop the vegetables (with supervision of course), shred things, prepare the corn cobs, break the eggs (not just drop them!), do any hand washing for the dishes and so much more - I'm looking forward to a couple of years time when they can handle a simple meal on their own...it won't be far off based on progress to date.
