The decorators
We were going to bake Gingerbread men today - at least that was the plan, and then when all our little guests arrived the fun began...
Those big enough to participate, produced some lovely gingerbread men, stars, butterflies and cars (and some interesting variations on those as well!). Then I made the mistake of thinking that decorating them before they went into the oven was the right thing to do. Well, that's what they do in the story at least (you know - two currants for his eyes, etc....) - well, apparently that is not what should happen (particularly not with natural jelly beans and sprinkles!!!!).
So as you can see, there were some interesting patterns and 'glazes' applied to some of our earlier efforts until I realised the error of my ways. The girls were only to happy to help decorate those that were baked 'naked' afterwards - Amelie's theory of one for the biscuit and one for me seemed rather popular too!
