Almost three...

 

 

 

 

Olivia is turning three on Tuesday - and she can't wait. I can of course, but more on that later...

Today, being the last day we could get people together before her birthday, we had a pre-birthday party with a 'princess castle cake' at her request. Greg and I were up last night trying our best to be artistic for her, and it seems she at least recognised the castle as such, and was very happy with the result. Her face when she first saw it this morning was more than enough reward for our labours. Unfortunately, the poor thing had woken this morning with a slight fever and conjungtivitis, so was quarantined from Church and off to the doctors with Mummy instead - although neither symptom seemed to slow her down any today, she was determined to enjoy every moment.

The highlights of the day were obviously the presents and the cake - she was rather overwhelmed by the presents, and loved them all. A dolls highchair with extras from Grandma, a dolls bottle where the liquid disappears (they might only cost $2, but the magic in her eyes is priceless!), some lovely new winter clothes and PJs, which she is wearing tonight - can't let an opportunity go by to wear winter PJs - she'd wear them all year if she could - funny girl!

Nanna and Grandad gave her the 'biggest' present - all wrapped up in a single bed sheet, as Nanna couldn't find paper to cover it - and to Olivia's delight it was a big dolls house, complete with furniture and an elevator! Of course the problem was that it didn't come assembled...poor Daddy had lots of advice and 'helpful' hands for a while there, until Nanna stepped in with the dolls house furniture to practise getting the dolls undressed, into the wooden bath, dressed and off to bed etc. and Grandma chimed in with some well-timed bookreading. The dolls house was a hit - so much so that we had a problem trying to get her to turn around so we could take a photo of her with it! It even has a chandelier, toilet seat that lifts up and down and pillows for the sofa! It was a complete bargain Mum - well done!
